Indoor Dog Kennel — How to Use

Indoor Dog Kennel + POG Grass System. The kennel and the Paws On Pause Grass System are a natural pair. For puppies 8–16 weeks, the kennel handles sleep and containment; POG handles toilet training. The pee pad migrates from inside the kennel toward the POG grass as your puppy's schedule builds. One system, one outcome: a dog who knows where to sleep and where to go.
Days 1–3

Open introduction

Place the kennel where your dog already spends time. Gate removed. Familiar blanket inside. Drop treats near the entrance each morning. Let them discover it without you watching.

Goal: Your dog approaches and enters partway on their own.
Days 3–7

Feeding association

Move meals to just inside the entrance. Each day, position the bowl further back. By Day 7, your dog eats fully inside with the gate removed.

Goal: Your dog enters fully and eats at the back without hesitation.
Days 7–14

Voluntary rest

After meals, drop a treat inside and use a consistent cue word (“kennel” or “bed”). Gate stays removed. Some dogs start choosing it for naps on their own.

Goal: Your dog enters voluntarily and rests inside with the gate off.
Days 14–21

Gate reintroduction

Close the gate for 30–60 seconds while your dog rests inside. Stay visible. Open before stress signals. Gradually extend: 1 minute, then 3, then 5.

Goal: Your dog tolerates 5–10 minutes with the gate closed.
Days 21–28

Building duration

Extend to 30 minutes, then an hour. Begin leaving the room for short periods. Maximum: 4 hours during the day.

Goal: Your dog settles with the gate closed for up to an hour.

Welfare: Maximum 4 hours gate-closed during the day. Never force your dog inside; they enter on their own. UAE summer: air conditioning must be running when gate is closed. Not suitable for cats; not a treatment for clinical anxiety.
Puppies (8–16 weeks)

Bed at the back, pee pad at the front, gate removed. Take puppy out every 2 hours, after naps, after meals. Migrate the pad from kennel to POG grass over 8 weeks.
